in Juan"

After the second war, the Côte
d’Azur discovered be-bop, large American cars, juke boxes
and coca-cola. Sidney Bechet fell in love with Juan whose exhuberant
atmosphere reminded him of New Orleans. In 1960, the first festival
in Europe was held in the Gould Pine grove. It was a great success.
All the great Artists came to Juan : Armstrong, Count Basie,
Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Elsa Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington…
