Juan-les-Pins
A passion for Life or the "coast
of Swing"
The Resort of the Town |
 |
|
|
The great adventure of Juan-les-Pins
came with the arrival of the Americans during the 20s. Frank
Jay Gould, the American railway tycoon, launched the first summer
casino. All the idle youth of Europe came to have fun in Juan,
followed by Hollywood stars ; Douglas Faibanks and Mary Pickford
danced to Cole Porter’s runes, as did Mistinguett and
Maurice Chevalier…
And Jazz was King in this frivolous carefree world, carried
off by its beat. Juan-les-Pins, which was no more than a spot
on a map, became a city of legend. |
